   Avatar extrêmement libre de l'Histoire des Treize de Balzac, Out One suit les jours, les travaux et les sentiments d'un groupe de comédiens.
   Commentaire
   Retrouvant le thème du complot qui lui est si cher, l'auteur ajoute cette fois la durée, une vraie durée, à son art du récit d'initiés. Aussi Out One est-elle une œuvre inclassable et malheureusement invisible de par cette durée même… Et pourtant, il s'agit d'une très grande réussite, la qualité et l'homogénéité de l'équipe d'acteurs (ce sont tous des fidèles) se nourrissant à merveille de la liberté prise, très sûrement, avec le temps et les normes. Rivette avait imaginé que la télévision pourrait diffuser Out One comme un feuilleton, mais il n'a pu jusqu'à présent que présenter, en 1974, une version cinéma «courte» de 4 h 15 intitulée Out One: Spectre.
